| canon | Super Mario Bros (Series in general, but borrowing mostly from the RPG canons, like Paper Mario.)
| character name | Princess Peach
| character age | Early twenties? We're never explicitly told. She's an adult, though.

| gem | Day gem.
| reason |
Peach is the picture of purity and goodness. When she's represented in a world-ending ritual, she's depicted as a figure so all-encompassingly good that marrying her to someone evil actually starts bringing about the end of the world! There's no end to depicting Peach as the ultimate representation of goodness in the Super Mario world, and to top it off, she has the personality to match it. There wouldn't even be the slightest inkling for her to want to go for the Night Gem, even at her most curious. Day all the way.
| wings | Like so, but in shades of pink instead of black and white.

| personality |

Princess Peach is just that— the very picture of a princess. Beloved by her kingdom, she’s very well known and popular throughout both it and even foreign lands. Often referenced as a symbol of goodness and kindness wherever she goes, her moral ground is often without question. However, this isn’t the complete be-all end-all of her character. Peach has come a long way and has always been an interesting piece of work. In the beginning, in Paper Mario, we see her as a kidnap victim once again. However, even though she’s trapped within her castle in the sky, she still, repeatedly, manages to escape her room and deliver several hints and helping items to her rescuer, Mario. She accomplishes this with the help of Twink, a star from Star Haven. Already, we see a passionate drive to not just passively sit and do nothing while waiting to get help— she definitively has a hand in her own fate, even at the risk of getting in trouble or getting caught in a dangerous situation. It doesn’t stop there though— throughout her imprisonment, she demonstrates cleverness and hard work, using her skills to get information and helpful items to Mario.

She can have a bit of a temper, but usually only directed towards people who deserve it— for instance, Bowser, her kidnapper. Usually, she keeps a level head most of the time and dedicates her time and effort to making sure her people are safe and sound. There is one example of a time she got furious at someone else— in Super Paper Mario, at Mimi, who threw mud on her name as a princess and who she got into a fight with right after. It takes a lot to get her that angry, but that anger is nothing to be trifled with. And even then, she won’t turn away from people who make her angry when she’s in trouble. After her fight with Mimi, she actually saves her when the room is collapsing, saying that she was raised to help people in danger, even though Mimi had given her nothing but trouble. This kind of selflessness is typical of Peach, who— outside of friendly competitions— acts as though she wouldn’t hurt a fly. There was an incident with a nerd who treated her like a dating sim, however, that went fairly poorly, just saying. Bombs were involved.

Just because she’s both selfless and harbors the occasional temper, though, doesn’t mean there aren’t other aspects of her. Peach is heroic in her own right, even if she leaves most of the heroics to her hero, Mario. She’s just as likely to set off on her own adventure, even rescuing him when he’s in trouble in her own game. Sometimes, that agency is taken away from her, as she’s frequently the kidnap victim of the week, but she works hard even around that. Despite the fact that she’s often a victim, she seemingly never lets it get to her, never falling into despair over her situation. Though she often expresses worry, she just as equally expresses hope, and that kind of behavior seems to extend to people all around her. Like a true leader, they look to her for guidance in hard times, and she has yet to disappoint in that aspect.

Despite the fact that chaos never seems to stay too far away from her, her boundless optimism is never-ending. She’s always hosting parties, baking cakes, racing go-karts, and trying to be a good leader to her kingdom. She maintains good friendships with people close to her, and always seems available for a sympathetic shoulder to lean on. She has the darndest ability to win over bad guys (even supposedly unfeeling super computers) and even though she’s been used as a cosmic plaything by baddies, it’s never really changed her alignment or shattered her worldview any. She’s still and always will be the same, dependable Peach, which is something the mushroom people undoubtedly love her for. However, just because she’s a beloved princess doesn’t mean she doesn’t have enemies— there are always people looking to overthrow and put an end to the peace of the Mushroom Kingdom, and Peach either enlists Mario to stop them, or goes out herself every time.

Speaking of Mario, Peach is the type to put her trust into him every time— he has without fail reversed the bad things Bowser and other baddies have done to her kingdom every single time, so when Peach can’t put a stop to it herself diplomatically, she’ll rely on him to do it with force. Of course, if the situation provides for it, Peach is quite a pacifist, aiming to end things peacefully. It just seems that with the ever-present slew of bad guys, there’s never an option to do just that. Peach thinks of Mario quite fondly, keeping a picture of him in her room, always inviting him to the castle for parties, and believes she owes quite a bit to him for the continued safety of her kingdom. They’re shown to be remarkably close friends (since childhood, even!) and even possibly more? The way the two interact is rather innocent, of course, but she’ll always give him a kiss on the cheek for saving her beloved people.

Peach has a very lawful good set of morals and drive— if there are people to help? She’ll help them. If the world is in danger? She’ll do her best to assist! For someone depicted as constantly powerless, Peach is an agent in her own fate, constantly working towards a better end. While sometimes portrayed as too passive, she’ll happily prove someone wrong for assuming the least out of her. Even though she’s depicted as the height of royalty, she’ll still be (politely) casual with her people, and never thinks of herself as better than anyone in her kingdom. Though she’s no doubt used to the good life, she’s not above getting her hands dirty and working hard when necessary, even if she is quite dainty and acts like it. All around, Peach is driven, optimistic, and all around positive— something the Mushroom Kingdom needs, especially when in dire straits.

| background | It's a bit all over the place, but I am primarily taking Peach from the Paper Mario RPGs, so here are the summaries of all of those!
The first game, Paper Mario's synopsis
The second game, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door's synopsis.
The third game, Super Paper Mario's synopsis.

| abilities |
Supplementary link, but I'll describe what she's bringing as well.

Peach has a plethora of talents, but most notable and well-documented is her ability to hover-- either with her dress or with the aid of her parasol. While this ability doesn't count for much in a game that lets her fly, it's still something she's always been able to do. In addition to being able to hover, she also has some healing abilities, such as Group Hug. While she can jump, ground pound, and run with the rest of her game companions, she's a little bit weaker than the hero of her game. Nonetheless, she ends up being a pretty formidable ally when the going gets tough.

Her transformative abilities are usually brought on by the power of an item, but she can wield fire with a fire flower, or transform into a cat with the aid of a cat suit (She won't be having any of those here though). Since she's being brought primarilly from the RPG games, her powers pretty much stop there. Hovering and basic platforming-style fighting is just about where to leave it.

| inventory | A pink parasol that would ordinarily give her the power to float, but isn't going to be much use in a game that grants her the ability to fly. She'll also be bringing a photo of Mario, her pink dress, shoes, gloves, and crown.

| amber entry |
Here would be her test drive entry.

| prose sample |
It isn't as if kidnapping is a foreign experience for the princess, but it all happens so suddenly-- whisked away by a flash of light, and in moments, she is face down in the floor of a beautiful, hollowed out tree. The difference in size doesn't hit her right away. She feels right as rain, and although she's perturbed to be here, she's unharmed.

"What in the world...?"

The words escape her lips in a gentle whisper, heard by no one. Even if there's a tinge of worry deep inside her, it's increasingly overwhelmed by the urge to explore. The pack in front of her doesn't go ignored-- she'll rummage through it's contents and be a little surprised to find a tunic exactly in her size (but never her style), a slice of amber, and a stone. No inventory should ever go uncluttered, so she slings it over her back and presses onward. Her footsteps spin her gently as she looks all around the room, seeking an exit, or listening for the menacing voice coming from the being that so obviously brought her here... but those would have to wait. Drawing her ever closer was the sight of the two gems trapped in stone.

She doesn't even look at the darker stone, as lovely as it is-- without much trepidation, her hand reaches out and rests gently on the surface of the yellow jewel.

"Oh my... it's just beautiful-- I've never seen anything like it before!"

As soon as she speaks, the fabric of the back of her dress rips in two even lines, sprouting a swirling mass of magic forming two identical, perfectly shimmering pink wings. It's not painful, but odd in a way she can't really describe, but it startles her nonetheless, and she spins in an uneven circle for a good solid minute trying to get a good look at her new appendages. Now? Now would be a great time for a mirror. At the very least, there's a slight reflection in the surface of the day gem that provides just enough to see what's on her back.

Wings. Honest to goodness wings. She'd changed forms with the aid of magic items several times, but she'd never outright sprouted wings! Would they wear off in time, like the rest? Her unease melts away, replaced with a new found, adventurous excitement. She flaps them once, and then again, and finally, in such rapid succession that a hummingbird would be proud. With a delighted cheer, she's lifted off the ground, and she can't help but enjoy it. After all, her floating never lasted very long. Now she can take to the sky with ease!

But it can't stay this way forever. What would her subjects think? What were they thinking right now, with her so far away from home?

The hole in the ceiling provided a clear destination, and if she was going to be stolen away to a new place, she owed it to them (and herself), to find out just where she was, and who had taken her. Gracefully, she flitted up to the ceiling, disappeared into the hole, and started a whole new adventure-- this time, on her own.
